Nala Growth was engaged by Joe Public United to assist with the structuring of a transaction that would see this leading advertising agency become majority black-owned. The mandate included securing a suitable black equity partner and raising the requisite capital to execute the transaction. Following a lengthy process of evaluation, through numerous structuring permutations and potential equity partners, we arrived at the optimal deal. In the much lauded transaction which closed in February 2020, Joe Public United became 60% black-owned, with Senatla Capital acquiring 34% shares and the black senior executives of the target, Ikamva Lakusasa, acquiring 26%.
